A song about fighting for what you believe in. Never giving up in the face of insurmountable odds. – Jake
This song stemmed from the verse drum pattern that immediately sounded like Maiden to me, which is in no way a bad thing, but just isn’t Slab. So I threw in a guttural bass grunt that gave it an industrial edge with some harmonic flourishes for the icing. It just needed the Cowing seal of riffage to pop the cherry, and Jake as ever didn’t disappoint. It took a while to get used to the length of the mid-section intro, and I couldn’t help adding those ‘horse having a sneezing fit’ bits just after this.
Now this is a great gig opener!
Lack of direction and a power erection
Lead them in search of the weak
Misjudging their target because we all know
The world wont be inherited by the meek
So rally the rebels, freaks and the lost
Their prejudice is what holds us tight
Stand in your grounds and fight for what you love
Don’t fire til you see hate in their eyes.
We are witness to the death of a tyrannY
And we shall commit this final heresy
Hope and faith have become obsolete
Haemmoraging their power the rulers will meet
POCKETS OF RESISTANCE
Fighting the right stopped being a way of life
So many years ago
But the centre swang right in a world under strife
And our liberties were free to go
Open heart lead me to the fray
Resigning my feet to the clay
My spirit
Wont be lost again
