Friday 1st November 2013 sees Slab, with good friends Ram-man (ex-Scarred Society), returning to Holland and Germany (maybe France as well) for just over a week of touring. After the great reception we received in May 2012 and the brilliant memories we came back with, we just couldn't refuse Paul Ram-man's invitation to do it all again. More details to follow, so keep checking back to this site!
We've had a small run of t-shirts printed to coincide with the tour and the new artwork is looking awesome.
Yeh, we’re back! Like the ‘bad pennies’ we’ve always been.
Where have we been? Recording another Slab album, that’s where!
Each album has been produced by the metal monster that is Ajeet Gill at Hellfire Studios. His new base near Swadlincote is a sight to behold and he’s helped us create what can only be described as another sonic leviathan.
Ten Human Jawbones was recorded in just over a week and with the tracks playing raw through the desk, we knew we’d got something special going on. Some songs we’ve been playing live for more than a year: Corpse Hunter, Stone Forest and Yeti Heart have finally been tamed and etched in aural permastone.
Other songs were welded together literally weeks before hitting the studio. Remote Viewing was the last song to be penned, but any worries of it being rushed were unfounded – it Rocks, damn it!
Design-wise we’ve got an American punk artist working on the front cover (cheers, Bill!) and the legendary Purdeep Singh, who designed our last two albums is on board too. We also have the brilliant talent of Marni Dhillon helping to shape the Ten Human Jawbones’ concept.
Hope you like the new site to coincide with the development and release of Ten Human Jawbones.
New to Slab?
'A death metal growl, wrapped in swathes of dark melody, turned up to 11 and guided by a hardcore punk attitude.'
SLAB were conceived in 2005 by cousins Big Jim Fletcher and Andy 'Kimbo' Kimberley (Bass and drums respectively), and guitarist/vocalist Jake Cowing. Combining many different styles and influences whilst still trying to focus on good songwriting the 'power-trio' have managed to win fans from both metal/rock and punk/hardcore audiences. This may be due not only to the ever-changing song styles but... also to the hard roadwork the band have put in, earning fans up and down the UK, Ireland and as far afield as Malta.
With over 300 gigs played in the bands relatively short history, SLAB are a major force to be reckoned with in the live arena. SLAB released 'Betray the Past.. Infect the future' in 2008 through Meltdown Records to critical and fan acclaim.
In 2010 the band released their second album 'Megafaunal Genocide', a truly monstrous piece of work...
